Plain-language summary: Use Sudo responsibly and only to access servers you are authorised to access. Subscriptions renew automatically and are managed through iOS Settings. We provide the app as-is; we are not liable for issues with your remote servers, repositories, AI providers, Remote Code/code-server setup, or SSH/Mosh connections.

1. Acceptance

By downloading or using Sudo ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App. These terms apply in addition to Apple's standard App Store End User License Agreement, which is incorporated here by reference.

Age requirement. You must be at least 16 years old to use Sudo (or the minimum age required by the laws of your country to enter into a binding agreement, if higher). By using the App you confirm that you meet this requirement.

2. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Sudo on any Apple device you own or control, solely for your personal or professional use. You may not:

3. Subscriptions and purchases

Sudo offers the following in-app purchase options, processed by Apple:

Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel your subscription in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Refunds are subject to Apple's refund policy.

If your Pro subscription expires, Sudo returns to Free limits. Saved host and repository records are not automatically deleted, but if more than 1 host or more than 1 Git repository is saved you must delete records until only 1 of each remains or restore Pro before opening host connections or repositories. Files.app host locations are removed while Pro is inactive.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use Sudo only to access servers and systems you own or have explicit authorisation to access. You must not use Sudo to:

You are solely responsible for the commands you execute, the repositories you manage, and the servers you connect to through Sudo.

5. Optional AI features

Sudo includes optional AI features for commit-message suggestions and terminal command assistance. These features use the third-party AI provider you configure (Anthropic or OpenAI) and your own API key.

By using AI features you agree to the selected provider's terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for provider availability, provider charges, or AI-generated output. For details on how AI request data is handled, see our Privacy Policy Section 4.

6. Remote Code and third-party server software

Remote Code connects to code-server that you install and run on an SSH server you control. Sudo does not bundle, redistribute, sublicense, or provide Microsoft Visual Studio Code, code-server, Node.js, extensions, language servers, compilers, or remote development tools inside the iOS app.

7. User-generated content and privacy

Sudo does not host or transmit user content to our servers. Data such as SSH keys, repository files, terminal output, SFTP file contents, and AI prompts remains on your device or travels directly between your device and your chosen servers or providers. You retain full ownership of everything you create or store.

Our handling of personal data (including support email diagnostics, iCloud sync, and AI request content) is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. By using Sudo you also agree to the Privacy Policy.

8. Intellectual property

Sudo and its design, trademarks, and original code are owned by the Sudo team. Open-source dependencies are used under their respective licenses (MIT, Apache 2.0); credits and license texts are available in the app under Settings → Acknowledgements.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that SSH, Mosh, SFTP, Git, FileProvider, Remote Code, code-server, iCloud sync, or AI provider connections will succeed. Your use of SSH, Mosh, SFTP, Git, Remote Code, third-party server software, and AI-generated output is at your own risk.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Sudo shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to data loss, server downtime, or unauthorized access to remote systems. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time. Cancelling a subscription through Apple does not delete data stored on your device, but feature and host-access limits apply after the paid entitlement expires.

12. Governing law and EU consumer rights

These Terms are governed by the laws of Italy, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Italy, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction applies.

If you are a consumer in the European Union or United Kingdom, nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under applicable consumer law, including any right to remedies for digital content that does not conform to the contract. EU consumers also retain the right to bring proceedings before the courts of their country of residence.

For EU/EEA users, Sudo acts as the data controller for any personal data you provide via support email. Your data-subject rights (access, erasure, rectification, portability, objection) are described in our Privacy Policy Section 14.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. Continued use of Sudo after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
