1. Acceptance
By downloading or using Sudo ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App. These terms apply in addition to Apple's standard App Store End User License Agreement, which is incorporated here by reference.
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Sudo on any Apple device you own or control, solely for your personal or professional use. You may not:
- Copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer the App.
- Use the App to develop a competing product.
- Remove or obscure any copyright or proprietary notices.
3. Subscriptions and purchases
Sudo offers the following in-app purchase options, processed by Apple:
- Pro — Monthly ($3.99/month): auto-renewing subscription. Unlocks all Pro features for the billing period.
- Pro — Annual ($19.99/year): auto-renewing subscription with a lower effective monthly rate.
- Free tier: available without purchase; includes core SSH terminal functionality with feature limits.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel your subscription in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Refunds are subject to Apple's refund policy.
Prices may change. You will be notified of price changes before renewal in accordance with Apple's policies.
4. Acceptable use
You agree to use Sudo only to access servers and systems you own or have explicit authorisation to access. You must not use Sudo to:
- Access or attempt to access any computer system without authorisation.
- Conduct unauthorised security testing or penetration testing.
- Transmit malicious code, malware, or exploit payloads.
- Violate any applicable law or regulation.
You are solely responsible for the commands you execute, the repositories you manage, and the servers you connect to through Sudo.
5. AI commit-message feature
The AI commit-message feature sends your staged code diffs to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic or OpenAI) using your own API key. By using this feature you agree to the relevant provider's terms of service. We are not responsible for AI-generated suggestions, and you should review any suggested commit message before committing. Do not use this feature with proprietary or sensitive code you are not permitted to share with the AI provider.
6. User-generated content
Sudo does not host or transmit user content to our servers. All data (SSH keys, repository files, terminal output) remains on your device or travels directly between your device and your chosen servers. You retain full ownership of everything you create or store.
7. Intellectual property
Sudo and its design, trademarks, and original code are owned by the Sudo team. Open-source dependencies are used under their respective licenses (MIT, Apache 2.0); credits and license texts are available in the app under Settings → Acknowledgements.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that SSH connections will succeed. Your use of SSH, Mosh, SFTP, and Git is at your own risk.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Sudo shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to data loss, server downtime, or unauthorized access to remote systems. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time. Cancelling a subscription through Apple does not delete data stored on your device.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Italy, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Italy, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction applies.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. Continued use of Sudo after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
